So, tooling around Boulder over the weekend, I spyed a new to me store that looked like it was involved with furnature called Design Within Reach. Now, to me the name implies that is interestingly designed furnature that is…you know…within reach.

So I looked up the website and great googly moogly, I am not sure as to whom this stuff is within reach of, but I will assume it is those folks in the upper 2% of incomes.

I mean really, a $2500 desk? a $4700 bookself?

So, I guess I will be rooting for it to go out of business like the Gap and baby Gap that proceeded the over priced furnature store in that space.

So, this morning was full on crazy for the 30 minute drive to work, and by crazy I mean a three ring circus of crazy.

Topic #1 was Tommy Tancredo and why he is going to be the next Governor of Colorado, which mostly boiled down to the argument of Just ‘cause.

Topic #2 was the Cordoba House in NYC. So, we learned that real muricins are very upset by damn furriners thinking they can just and build any old house of worship any where they want, and that is not right or constitutional. We also learned that it is a “Victory Mosque” being built by the Saudi’s to celebrate Islam’s victory of the US.

Topic #3 was the 14th Amendment and it was on like freaking crazy time Donkey Kong. We learned the following:
• It was written to only allow former slaves to become citizens.
• Since there was no such thing as Illegal Aliens when it was written, it does not apply to any child of a non-citizen now.
• The US vs Wong Kim Ark is not applicable since the Chinese Exclusion Act is not law anymore, and his parents were here legally at the time and went back to china.
• Since the 14th is a law and laws do not apply to illegal’s by virtue of them not being here legally like Michelle Malkin’s parents were.
• It currently for some magical reason does not apply to just any child born while in the US….even though in reality it does.
Yeppers, and the crazy harley riding dry drunk was in full rage mode, calling folks (liberals) liars and idiots that called up to correct him.

The anniversery of Colorado becoming a State, so the Post had an amusing piece in the paper this morning:

Are you a true Coloradan?

Still refer to Xcel Energy as “Public Service”? Nope, refer to Xcel as Xcel because of work.

• Know people whose bicycles are worth more than their cars? Not know, but have seen.

• Associate the scent of roasting chile peppers with the end of summer? Yeppers.

• Own a huge assortment of athletic clothing but nothing appropriate for dinner at a swanky restaurant? Close.

• Know where to find the Valley Highway and the Boulder Turnpike? Well, duh.

• Assume that a conversation about the Triple Bypass refers to the bicycling event, not a medical procedure Silly Question.

• Know how longtime Denver residents pronounce these north Denver street names: Zuni, Pecos and Galapago? Of Course: Zoo-neye, Pay-cus, Gala-paygo.

• Know where “Pee-eblo” is located? Born there…also known as “Pew-eblow”.

• Know people who pronounce “Buena” in Buena Vista as if it rhymed with either “grainy” or “tuna”? Boony-vista or just Boony for short are correct.

• Still refer to Whole Foods as “Alfalfa’s”? Sadly, yes, but Alfalfa’s is coming back!

• Have seen trick-or-treaters soldiering through a Halloween snowstorm? Seen? Done!

• Never confuse Empire’s Hard Rock Cafe with the famous chain? Yeppers! The big chain was even silly enough to sue the little cafe…and lost since the one in Empire has been around for decades.

• Have comfortably worn shorts outdoors in December or January? Sure, when it is nice enough.

• Know which Colorado town competes with International Falls, Minn., for the title of “Icebox of the Nation”? Fraser.

• Automatically bring a fleece pullover or jacket on a day hike in the mountains, even when the temperature in Denver and Grand Junction is solidly in the 90s? Well, duh.

• Watched a flick at Buena Vista’s Comanche Drive-in or Monte Vista’s Movie Manor? Nope but Mom is staying at the Monte Vista one this month.

• Know where alligators thrive in the San Luis Valley? Yep!

• Made it through a meal at Casa Bonita Oh. Dear. god.

• Ran (or walked) the Bolder Boulder and have the T-shirt to prove it? Nope, but watched it for the past 18 years.

• Know what the Leadville Trail 100 is? Yep and watched it once.

extra credit if you know how many LT 100s must be completed to earn the belt buckle? I did not know this.

• Know the difference between the Front Range and the Western Slope? Well, duh again.

I can only imagine what it was like last night down at Coors Field in the eighth when the fireworks started. Having been there for several late game rallies, this is all that and the cake and pie too.

11 straight hits for 12 runs!

Yeah, and a new record to boot.

For the giggle inducing vid, go here.

So, on the way in this morning, the morning dry drunk birther announced that Tancredo has announced that if McInnis and Meas do not get out of the CO Governors race, that he has going to get into it, running on the American Constitution Party.

So, at worst we have one crazy man running or at best a threeway split of the ticket.

Our favourite local crazy Pol is at it again.

COLORADO SPRINGS — The state has tried 29 times since May 4 to serve notice of a court order on anti-tax crusader Douglas Bruce to testify in a campaign-finance case.

But in an e-mail to The Denver Post on Friday, Bruce — the Republican one-session lawmaker best known as the father of the Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights — said he’d been out of town since May 5 and had only gotten back Thursday morning.

Of course he was…

A May 10 court order from Denver District Judge Brian Whitney compelled Bruce to testify in a campaign-finance case aimed at finding out who is behind three initiatives that would slash billions of dollars in state and local taxes and dramatically limit the state’s ability to construct new buildings.

Process servers and El Paso County sheriff’s deputies have visited Bruce’s home early in the day and late in the evening, leaving notices and cards at the door, which were removed when they returned to try again. They’ve called Bruce but haven’t heard back.

A visit to Bruce’s house Thursday yielded nothing when a Denver Post reporter rang the doorbell and left a card.

But Bruce did answer the telephone at his house later in the day.

“I don’t want to talk to you. How many more times do I have to tell you?” he said before hanging up.

Stay Classy Doug!

He did not indicate whether he was aware of the court order and did not respond to further e-mails seeking clarification.

Mark Grueskin, an attorney representing Coloradans for Responsible Reform, the group challenging whether proponents of the three initiatives followed campaign-finance laws, believes he’s already proved Bruce is behind the initiatives.

In testimony before an administrative law judge this week, Michelle Northrup, a Black Hawk resident who pushed one of the initiatives, said she and other proponents met with Bruce to discuss the language of the initiatives before the measures — Amendments 60 and 61 and Proposition 101 — were put on the ballot.

Northrup also testified that Bruce had coached her on how to handle legal matters in the case, sending her e-mails and calling her after she got subpoenaed to testify in the case.

Bruce did not respond to e-mailed questions about Northrup’s testimony.

All three of those proposals website were somehow just like all of the wesidtes that Dou Bruec has put up for other things he has been the moving force behind. Also, all three of those proposals have the sole goal of turning Colorado into the same fiscal morase as California.

Game day was a lot of fun.

Games played: Kill Doctor Lucky (Dave won), Settlers of the Stone Age** (Dave won), Settlers of Catan (Margie won), What’s yours like? (Gloria won) and Pitch Car*** (Bruce won the First game, and I won the second game).

All in all a fun and enjoyable day. Both What’s yours like and Pitch car are good party games.

**Settles of the Stone Age: Basically advanced Settles of Catan and Civilization right out of the box. It plays like playing all the expansion bits of Catan, but with only four players. Lots of fun and interesting game mechanics that change the dynamics as you go along, which make it play much slower than straight Catan. A fun game, but not at all a quick game.

***Pitch Car: Okay, when you have full grown adults saying “Let’s play it again!” and add in things like the bridge and tunnel, you know you pretty much have a fun game. It is very easy to go from worst to first on a good shot as it is to go in the opposite direction on a series of bad shots.

One problem was in doing a play test was that I managed to get all the pieces back in the boxes, but forgot the rules…luckily they are so few that they are able to fit on a 3×5 card.

Now that I am looking at the rule book, I remembered the Alt rules, which to me seemed to play faster and more fun than the regular rules.

1: if you flip your car or go off the track, you must put it back where you started and the next player plays.
2: if your car makes another car go off the track, both cars go back to where they were and your next opponent plays.

Qualifying heat: least amount of turns goes first, next least is second and so on.

If you give your car a strong pitch, it may jump over several tracks parts, only jumps of two track parts or less are allowed,

Alt rule 1: if your car makes another car go off the track your car goes back to where it was and the car that was knocked off gets placed where it went off the track, and your next opponent plays.

Alt rule 2: A player whose car turns over does not have to put it back where it was but does skip a turn.

After playing it, I can see why folks in the game forums said that they cemented the rubber guard rails in place.

So yes, Pitch Car lived up to its review of being a fun time for kids, adults and adults that can be child like.

80 degree temps thanks to a late season Chinook that blew in at 4:30am this morning.

So, this morning the angry dry drunk guy was upset at Rep. Polis for what he said about the new Arizona law.

Then, as an added bonus, he had on the GOP Candidate for Governor, Scott McInnis, on and asked him about the Arizona law and Scott McInnis said sure I would do my best to get it passed here too. The Angry dry drunk almost had an orgasm on air.
